Biography Painting Experiences Contact Me

Paul Cezanne once stated that "The strong experience of nature... is the necessary basis for all conception of art on which rests the grandeur and beauty of all future work." Artist Lee Englund is the ideal embodiment of this credo as he creates passionate works of art in response to his personal observance of the awe of nature. Juxtaposing comprehension with emotion, Mr. Englund establishes his own artistic doctrine; using painting as the means of higher levels of insight into not only nature but painting itself. Directing his artistic dexterity to other themes and motifs as well, Mr. Englund renders exquisite and elegant still life images and portraits. His brushstrokes evoke a sense of ease and gracefullness, which are united under a harmonious veil of aesthetic passion.

Delicate and refined, yet powerful and bold, Mr. Englund's images are captivating and highly provocative. Sharing the somewhat mystifying grace that existed across the canvases of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, Mr. Englund's works are expertly rendered and make use of the contrasting elements of light and dark. Manipulating and transcending the traditional modes of perception and vision, Mr. Englund's canvases are saturated with a radiating beauty. His use of color and form coalesce together in a melodious manner, as his lines are soft yet definite, and his colors are bold yet gentle. Paintings that speak both to the mind and the eye, Mr. Englund's work invite the viewer to comprehend the beautiful and natural.

Mr. Englund is an accomplished artist, having exhibited throughout the United States and United Kingdom. A member of Oil Painters of America, and The National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, Mr. Englund also teaches painting workshops. His works hang in private and public collections across the nation, and he has generated numerous awards and honors for his wonderful artwork.
