I painted left-handed in New Mexico after I broke my wrist. I fell hiking into some
rugged terrain for a painting view. My wrist was shattered pretty severly so I had
to paint left-handed all summer. It was a learning experience!
Painting on the shores of Lake Superior. When it's windy, it is really exciting!
Still wearing a brace after the cast was off. Hot, damp day with mosquitos. (some in the paint)
What a view! I climbed this mountain to paint in Big Sky. To my left was a big drop!
I love winter landscapes!
Packing my paintings out, I sweat even in the winter.
Winlderness interiors are a real challenge. You deal with the elements
and try to sythesize what you can see into a creative expression. It is also important
for me to be honest about what is in front of me.
Winter in the wilderness is so inspiring.
Stopping for a quick sketch in paint, without my easel.
In New Mexico
In Arizona. Not much room for me to paint the view that I wanted. Wow, it was hot.
I pulled of the roadside to paint a view of the beautiful Lorica Farm with red poppies growing
everywhere.
Signing the painting.
Italy was so exciting to paint. I loved the architecture. Here I am painting a grotto in Massa, Italy.
People would drive by and say ' Complimente'.
During the process... it is as important as the product.
A little fish house sat right on the shore near Tofte, MN. This painting is 20" x 24".
Not very far into the painting.
I dress for the weather. The winter shores of Lake Superior are breath-taking. I begin without
gloves, but have to put them on after a time. It is zero degress.
I do wear a glove on my left hand.
Trying to capture the winter waves. It is heart pounding exciting.
I paint in the background as my sister-in-law snowshoes with my wife.
